The stunning Lygon Arms which dates from the 16th century is the perfect choice for family friendly luxury in the beautiful Cotswolds. Situated in the gorgeous Cotswold village of Broadway, this classic coaching inn has undergone a fabulous refurbishment programme which has seen all areas of the hotel, country club & spa sympathetically restored to its former glory.
Just two hours from London, the hotel is located on the High Street in the heart of Broadway is a perfect base from which to explore the Cotswolds. Imagine a stunning hotel which is luxurious for you, but equally as welcoming for your lovely little ones. Think of roaring log-burning open fireplaces, a Great Hall with a vaulted ceiling and original wood panelling built in the seventeenth century. Having been visited by politicians and royalty through history, this gorgeous family friendly hotel in the Costwolds is fantastic for a relaxing stay and base for exploring.
Let the kids cool down and have fun in the indoor heated pool, just be aware there are children swim times, so do check before you visit. Children’s splash times are Monday 9-10am & 3.30-6pm Tuesday 10-11am & 3.30-6pm and Wednesday to Sunday 9-11am & 3.30-6pm.

Make friends in the kids club which is available for half terms and school holidays. During the club times there is Arts and Crafts between 10-12am and then in the afternoon between 2-4pm there are different daily activities including; 'It's Movie Time', 'Lygon Little Chef', 'Rhythmic Activities & Dance' and 'Fun & Games'. The Kids Club can accommodate 20 children so it is important you book before you visit. The room is is bound to appeal to the young ones as it is full of beanbags, board games for children up to 12 years, a toy box with a selection of toys, puzzles and games for children up to 8 years an X-box (which needs booking in advance).
The children get activity packs and included in these are colouring books, puzzles and craft kits.
During good weather there are activities in the hotel’s gardens including giant games, children’s croquet, children’s tents and seasonal treasure hunts.

Bring your little ones and stretch out in a spacious Deluxe Room which has recently been refurbished to an exceptional standard. Furnished with beautifully restored antiques, original paintings and quirky period features, each room has its own unique character. Some Deluxe Rooms also come with a private landscaped terrace. The deluxe rooms can accommodate cots and some of these rooms interconnect. Great if you need a separate room for the kids. All rooms come with a Nespresso coffee machine and some of the Deluxe rooms are perfectly appointed to accommodate your four-legged friends.
If you want a bit more space go for a luxurious Junior Suite which comes with the option of a double sofa bed, making them ideal for a family break, if you opt for a ground floor suite you will also benefit from a a private landscaped terrace. Note that most of the junior suites are ‘open plan’ so if you want that separate sleeping space for the kids then remember to ask for one with a separate lounge area.
In these seven large suites you will discover something a little more opulent. Again the suites are open plan providing airy, spacious, luxurious rooms are located on the ground floor overlooking individual landscaped terraced gardens and courtyard. Each suite has a seating area on their private terrace.
The suites range from 38m2 to 48m2 and open out onto a large terrace. When it comes to staying with the family, each suite is complete with a sofa bed making this ideal for those wanting to bring children. For those wanting their children near but not in the same room there are two separate interconnecting suites.
CHARLES I SUITE
This is where King Charles stayed before battle during the English Civil War in 1649 and A Coat of Arms sits above the traditional fireplace to mark his royal visit. This suite has a magnificent four poster bed with a spacious lounge and seating area furnished with comfy sofas, antiques and original paintings, making it fit for royalty (or families!) looking for an unforgettable hotel experience. Each of these master suites has an in-room fridge with complimentary soft drinks. Great for ensuring the kids keep hydrated!
GORDON RUSSELL SUITE
This lovely suite has two separate lounges as well as a large vanity area in the sumptuous bathroom. Three spare beds can be set up in the lounge area, making it a flexible family space. The Gordon Russell has two separate lounge areas making it idea for up to four children. Again there is In room fridge with complimentary soft drinks.
THE GREAT CHAMBER SUITE
Offering a spacious seating area with a bright vaulted ceiling as well as a beautifully designed bedroom, it has stunning views over the charming Broadway High Street.
Children have most definitely been considered when designing the kids menu. There is a children’s menu both in the Grill Restaurant and Bar. The menus offer healthy, child-friendly seasonal offerings.
At certain times of the year you children will also be treated to a themed afternoon tea such as Teddy Bear picnic or Mad Hatters Tea party.
