Enter through the heavy oak doors and you’ll find a luxury child friendly hotel steeped in history, roaring fires and romantic period features. Winding stone staircases, suits of armour and secret panels and tales of knights, princesses, kings and queens will add to the excitement for your very own princes and princesses. This is a magical destination for children and their parents who want to experience a night in a real life castle!

There are twenty-seven bedrooms and most are decorated in the period and have four- poster or coronet beds with stone or classically wallpapered walls, tapestries and ornate carved ceilings. Enjoy the historic parkland views in the warmth of your coal-effect gas fire (available in most rooms). The Tudor Bedchamber even has arrow-slit windows.

There are two single rooms in the South Wing which are suitable for the younger guests and close to a number of double rooms for parents but please note these are not interconnecting.

The classic rooms, although comfortable and big enough for two, do not take any extra beds or cots but can be split into twin beds. This is good if you have older children with you and you are happy for them to have a separate room.

The deluxe rooms are incredibly atmospheric and most are large enough to take at least one extra bed or cot.

There are three suites, two of which have a four-poster bed. All are spacious and have separate sitting or dressing areas. These do take an extra bed or cot but there is no separate area for children to sleep; these suites are all open plan.

There is also a Victorian gatehouse within the grounds with two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a kitchen and lounge/dining room and its own secluded gardens; these rooms offer complete privacy but with full access to the castle and all its facilities. This is a perfect place to stay for families wanting the privacy of two bedrooms and a private garden.

Situated at the top of the tower in the South Wing is a Superior Deluxe bedroom with what is believed to be the biggest four-poster bed in the UK! Decorated in a traditional Tudor style, it has two ‘Truckle Beds’ which may be made up for families to share. The bedchamber is reached via 77 circular stone steps offering some of the finest views in south Gloucestershire - not suitable if you are carrying heavy toddlers or have little ones who may be unsteady on stairs.

Children up to the age of 16 stay for free in their parent’s room - subject to the suitability of the room to take extra beds. Children’s breakfast is charged in addition.
