The luxury family friendly Idle Rocks sets new standards of comfort and luxury for a relaxed family break. It is idyllically situated, on the Harbourside of fabulous St Mawes. Each of its twenty bedrooms have their own unique scheme, with a restaurant with views across the unspoilt Harbour, and a South facing Terrace that sits perfectly on the rocks… the Idle Rocks is the place where people can re-engage with the simpler pleasures in life. So come here with the kids to chill out, relax and unwind…..anytime of the year.

For Kids

  • The kids will feel that every day is an adventure with two beaches to explore and the beautiful Cornwall coast-line on the door step.
  •  The kids will love the free gift they get on arrival – the crabbing kit for fun down by the harbour.
  •  At the hotel  there is a children’s room where families can play safely and the little one can meet and make new friends during their stay.
  • There is a variety of accommodation options within the hotel to accommodate families of up to 5. The options are all different ranging from children’s bunk beds to interconnecting rooms. Do let us know your requirements on booking so we can make sure we get the best room arrangement for your family.
  •  Children’s high tea is served at 5:30pm in the Restaurant around the ‘Chefs Table’. A menu is specially prepared by the head chef in line with the hotel’s food philosophy of only using the most seasonal and freshest food available.
  • High chairs are available in the restaurant at lunch-time although please note young children are not encouraged in the restaurant in the evenings. However, there is evening supervision for 3-12 year olds between 6:30pm and 9:30pm. This Children’s Room is fully supervised to allow you to enjoy a quiet dinner in our Restaurant whilst your children can have fun before bed-time.
  • There is a baby listening service which can be used within the hotel grounds.
  • The hotel can provide parents with the details of a local, qualified contact for baby-sitting.

For Adults

  • You will love the individually styled bedrooms which enjoy barefoot comfort, soft, coastal inspired colours, and stunning fabrics leaving you in no doubt that you are beside the sea!
  • The hotel has home luxuries include beautiful fresh bathrooms, under floor heating, oversized beds with crisp white Egyptian cotton sheets.
  • Most of the Idle Rock's rooms boast wonderful views across the harbour, some towards the quiet beach just opposite, whilst others have free standing baths overlooking the sea. Just ask on booking if you have a specific wish.
  •  Whilst you enjoy a relaxed eveneing meal you can rest assured the children are being well looked after in the hotel’s supervised Children’s Room.

Sea rooms are generously proportioned, many with double windows enjoying spectacular sea views, and all with wonderful bathrooms. The hotel has two Seaview Rooms perfect for families, one with bunk beds and one with a sofa bed.
From £295 per night.

Two cosy, yet bright rooms, with a nautical theme. Two Village Rooms are suitable for families with older children as although they do not interconnect they are in their own bit of corridor therefore suitable for older children.
 From £180 per night.

There are two rooms at The Idle Rocks that interconnect, one double with Sea View and one twin with Harbour View that also has sofa bed so 3 children could comfortably be accommodated.

The Idle Rocks philosophy on food is knowing your supper was swimming in local waters a few hours earlier and possible even hearing about the size of the one that got away. The menu is based on a celebration of Cornwall, showcasing the full range of fabulous produce that is right on the hotel’s door step.
The setting is relaxed – providing a real home-from-home feeling. The philosophy: good-old-fashioned hospitality, simplicity and warmth.

Top Tips

Come for a few days - there is so much to do.

The hotel can provide a lot of the baby paraphernalia - even baby swim nappies so don't pack a car full - check with the hotel first if it is not listed in the 'For the Kids' tab.
